  • On Lachit Borphukan Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India’s history is not only of slaves, but also of warriors

    Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the need to inform the country about true history while addressing an event to mark the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan, who was the commander of the Ahom empire. “India’s history is not just of slaves. There are warriors too. The Prime Minister said that the history of the country’s heroes was suppressed is.

    He did not name anyone, but he was clearly referring to historians of left-wing ideology. “We have got an opportunity to celebrate Borphukan ji’s birth anniversary at a time when the country is celebrating 75 years of independence. This historic event is a proud moment in the history of Assam. The Prime Minister also spoke on the occasion to get out of the slavery mentality. “We have to get out of the colonialist mindset. If this happens, then we will be filled with pride for our great heritage.Addressing the function, PM Modi said that even after independence, we were taught the same history which was plotted during the period of slavery. After independence, there was a need to change the agenda of slavery but that did not happen. Pm Modi said that now the country is full of pride in its heritage, leaving the mentality of slavery.

    Today, India is not only celebrating its cultural diversity but also remembering the historical heroes and heroines of its culture with pride. The Prime Minister further said that great personalities like Lachit Barfukan and the immortal children of Mother India are our inspirations for fulfilling the resolutions of this amrit period. The ongoing event at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi was inaugurated by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. PM Modi also visited the exhibition organised as part of the celebrations along with Sarma. The PM then paid tribute to Lachit’s picture by paying tribute.The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, besides Governor Jagdish Mukhi, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and others. In Assam, Lachit Borphukan is regarded as a hero and has been a matter of pride for the people of the state.

    Addressing the event, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also said historians are urged to understand that the story of India is not limited to Aurangzeb, Babur, Jahangir and Humayun. Bharat Lachhit also narrates the story of Borphukan, Chhatrapati Shivaji, Gurugu Gobind Singh, Durgadas Rathore. “We have to look at history in a new light. This can fulfill our dream of becoming a world gurugu. Sarma said that PM Narendra Modi has always inspired to bring out true history. “We are trying to bring the story of Lachit Borphukan to the world. But the government’s efforts are not enough. The public and historians will also have to come together in our efforts. Addressing the function, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, “I think the journey of Atmanirbhar Bharat started when Lachit Borphukan used weapons and equipment made by the common people of Assam to fight the Mughals. “Joining the ‘Make in India’ initiative is a true tribute to Lachit.
