One person was killed, at least 400 huts collapsed, a number of rubber plantations damaged and more than 75 electric posts uprooted as a storm lashed several parts of Tripura last night.

Police said, a motor worker, who was sitting at the veranda of his house last night at Panisagar in Dharmanager district died after being struck by lightning.

Sources in the state Revenue department said, at least 400 huts, made of mud or bamboo had collapsed due to the storm coupled with heavy rain.

Employees of the state electricity department started repairing the damaged posts to restore power supply.

Sources in the Rubber Board said, at least fifty rubber plantations and rubber nurseries in different parts of the state were damaged due to the storm.
