One killed by wild elephants near Rani reserve forest

GUWAHATI : One person was trampled to death by wild elephants near Rani Reserve Forest on the outskirts of Guwahati last night. The deceased has been identified as Rajib Boro, aged 35, Convener Shaktikendra, Rani Mandal BJP. Boro was killed by wild elephants at around 12.10 am last night at Andhrijuli village near Rani RF.

At about 1.30 am the Range officer, Rani got information that a villager named Rajib Boro, son of late Baneswar Boro of village Andherijuli under Palashbari police station of Kamrup district died due to a sudden attack by wild elephants at Hathabori (Andherijuli) paddy field. After receiving the information, the Deputy Ranger and other Range Headquarters staff rushed to the place of occurrence.

In the meantime, the police personnel of Rani Police Outpost also arrived at the spot and after verification of the spot, it came to the fore that the person was killed by wild elephants. After that the police personnel took the body to Rani Community Health Centre for medical examination. Meanwhile, Minister for Environment and Forest, Parimal Suklabaidya deeply mourned the death of Rajib Boro, Convener Shaktikendra, Rani Mandal BJP, by wild elephants last night. The Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
