  • Operation Food Search to Host Cooking Matters At The Store Tour

    St. Louis, Mo. :  Operation Food Search (OFS), a non-profit hunger relief organization, will hold a Cooking Matters at the Store® Tour Event Day on Sat., May 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Schnucks St. John located at 9070 St. Charles Rock Road.  The 20-minute self-guided interactive grocery store tour shows local families and individuals how to make healthy, affordable shopping choices.

    The tour is funded through Newman’s Own Foundation, which provides grants to support initiatives that increase access to fresh food and nutrition education in underserved communities.  Founded in 1982 by Paul Newman, Newman’s Own, Inc. sells a variety of premium and organic food products and gives 100% of the profits to charitable purposes around the world.

    The event, which is free and open to the public, will offer tours of the supermarket’s produce, bakery, meat, and dairy departments.  Participants will receive a $10 grocery gift card upon tour and brief survey completion.

    Founded in 1981, Operation Food Search (OFS) is a hunger relief organization that provides food and nutrition education.  With a strategic focus aimed at ending childhood hunger, OFS empowers families with a range of programs and services proven to reduce food insecurity and increase access to healthy and affordable food.  The agency helps feed more than 200,000 individuals on a monthly basis – one-third of which are children – through a network of 330 community partners in 31 Missouri and Illinois counties.  Operation Food Search is located at 1644 Lotsie Blvd.
