  • Bangalore:  A 28-year-old- man met with an accident and was declared brain dead on Tuesday at Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta road. During grieving hours, the wife of deceased turned her grief into gift of life for five people by stepping forth to donate her husband’s organs and contribute towards the noble cause.

    A team of doctors at MS Ramaiah safely harvested heart, one kidney, liver was allocated to Fortis Bannerghatta Road, another kidney to Suguna Hospital and Cornea to Minto Eye hospital. A green corridor was created from Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road to MS Ramaiah to transport the heart.

    He was injured in a road accident on Sunday near Vellore junction and had suffered severe head injury, while the person accompanying him died on the spot. He was shifted to Fortis Hospitals, Bannerghatta road, where he was declared brain dead on Tuesday, post which his wife consented to donate his organs. The deceased worked as a garment seller in Tumkur district and got married last year. He is survived by his wife and family.
