An orientation programme was held today (July 10) for CIMP’s 17th PGDM batch. The programme, held in the auditorium on the beautiful campus at Mithapur, began with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Rana Singh, Director, CIMP. Dr. Singh briefed the students of the 2024-26 batch about the evolution and inspiring journey of the institute, which was born out of the dream of our Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar, a true visionary. He exhorted the students of the incoming batch to work hard to meet the cut-throat competition in the industry. The event saw a lineup of illustrious industry professionals from India and abroad delivering invaluable lessons to the young students.
Dr. Ravi Shanker, Founder and CEO, 3S Global Advisors LLC, USA, addressed the students online and advised them to develop a thorough understanding of the self, a SWOT of sorts, to build resilience in themselves. Dr. Shanker, who held senior management positions at firms including Dow Chemicals (USA), also advised them to develop an insatiable curiosity and keep working to better themselves every day.
Padmashri Anand Kumar, Founder and Teacher, Super 30, Patna, gave the students a passionate address in which he advised them to have a larger purpose beyond their professional careers. He urged them to develop social consciousness, go beyond the classroom, and use their managerial skills to find innovative solutions to problems faced by society at large. For example, they can try to find solutions to help small vendors whose business gets affected by heavy rain in a city like Patna. They can also try to find solutions to feeding a nation of 140 crore people by raising agricultural productivity. Shri Anand Kumar stressed the importance of self-confidence, optimism, perseverance, and acquiring knowledge of the best practices from around the world.
Shri Apurva Chamaria, Head of Startups and Venture Capital, Google India, urged the students to make the best use of technology to work smart, in addition to working hard.
Dr. Sunil Kumar, Chief General Manager, NABARD (Bihar Regional Office), advised the students to treat all the hard work they would be putting in during the next two years of PGDM as an investment in their careers. He also stressed the importance of soft skills in professional excellence.
Shri Kumod Kumar, CAO, CIMP and CEO, CIMP-BIIF; Shri Vibhash Kumar, Placement Chairperson, CIMP and former Executive Director, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., were also present.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. G K Murthy, PGP Chairperson, CIMP.
