
Bengaluru : CMR University successfully hosted the much-anticipated ‘Aarohann’ Marathon today at its Lakeside Campus, Bagalur. The event witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of 1,245 participants, including students, faculty, and members of the public, who took part in the 5K, 8K, and 10K runs.
Padma Shri Dr. K. S. Rajanna graced the occasion as Chief Guest and flagged off the marathon, inspiring the participants with their presence. The marathon, driven by a spirit of inclusivity and compassion, stood out for its noble cause. The proceeds from the registration will go towards purchasing wheelchairs for the differently abled.
Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest at the marathon, Padma Shri Dr. K.S. Rajanna highlighted that such events, along with academics, nurture social responsibility in students. He praised CMR University for organizing the event and encouraged them to continue hosting similar initiatives to gain global recognition.
As part of the initiative, 50 wheelchairs will be donated to government hospitals and charitable trusts across Bengaluru, making a significant contribution to improving accessibility for those in need. The first set of wheelchairs was symbolically handed over by Dr. K.S. Rajanna and Dr. Sabitha Ramamurthy to representatives from charitable organizations and hospitals.
Speaking about the event, Dr. Sabitha Ramamurthy, Chancellor of CMR University, said that such events encourage students to enhance their physical and mental strength while promoting a healthier society through community participation.
Winners across all categories were awarded medals and certificates in recognition of their efforts and commitment.
