    Guwahati: Pakistani authorities released 20 Indian fishermen from Karachi’s Landhi Jail and sent them to Lahore.Pakistan authorities have released 20 Indian fishermen from Landhi Jail in Karachi and sent them to Lahore. They had been arrested for entering into Pakistani water territory. Among them, a fisherman from Assam has also been released.Simanta Saikia, a resient of Merapani under Assam’s Golaghat district is all set to return to his home after more than one year of imprisonment in a Pakistani jail. It needs to be mentioned that Pakistan released 20 Indian fishermen on Sunday including Assam’s Simanta who were arrested by the Maritime Security Agency for allegedly violating Pakistani territorial waters on October 28 last year. They were lodged in Malir district jail in Lahore. The fishermen were working in a Gujarat based company. The family members of Simanta Saikia are overjoyed after they have received the news of release of the fisherman yesterday.“We are really happy today. My son has been released after almost 13 months he was arrested by Pakistani maritime security agency. He even didn’t see his newborn son,” said father of Simanta Saikia.
