New Delhi : In a major initiative towards strengthening the alumni network of Delhi Polytechnic (which was renamed later as DCE), Delhi College of Engineering and now Delhi Technological University (DTU), and providing them an opportunity to connect with their alma mater, the University has launched “PAN DCE-DTU” network in online form. The website www.pandcedtu.org was launched at the first meeting of the International Alumni Advisory Committee (IAAC) of DTU held today at India Habitat Centre in the Capital. The meeting was attended by Mr. Raj Soin, Chairman, Soin International, US and distinguished alumnus of DCE who has been appointed as the Chairman (Abroad) for IAAC, Mr. K.L. Chugh, Former Chairman, ITC Ltd, also an alumnus of DCE, who has been selected as the Chairman (India) for IAAC and Sh. S.P. Goel, a 1954 graduate of DCE, among other young and senior alumni members of DCE.

PAN DCE-DTU will provide a much needed interface between the alumni, students, faculty and administration of the Varsity. It will allow alumni to connect among themselves, share their success stories and career advancements, and know about the activities and developments taking place at the University. It will also provide an opportunity to the existing students to connect with the alumni and seek their guidance for their projects, research and even placements. “The alumni connect in the form of PAN DCE-DTU will also enable the University to involve its distinguished alumni in a more significant manner for making DTU a truly world class University,” informed Prof. P.B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, DTU.

The occasion also saw many alumni members coming up with noteworthy suggestions on strengthening DTU as a University. According to Mr. Soin, “It is important to have a full-fledged Alumni Relations Office in DTU, which can connect and stay in touch with the alumni of DCE/DTU spread across the globe and look at ways of harnessing alumni’s support in various endeavours of the University.” Applauding DTU for establishing a Technology Incubation Centre for encouraging entrepreneurship among young students, Mr. Chugh called for a greater involvement of the alumni in functioning of the University. “The management of the University should acknowledge that alumni are an important component of the University and they should be considered as ‘interested, enlightened, owners’ of the University,” he said.

The Vice Chancellor was pleased to inform the gathering that besides launching PAN DCE-DTU, the University is also keen to establish an International Alumni Centre (with conferencing and residential facilities) and Alumni Fund at DTU, which can be utilized for supporting research and innovations of students and faculty, inviting distinguished faculty from India and abroad and establishing specialized centres for research and innovations in the area of Solar Energy, VLSI Design and Design Engineering Centre, among others.
