  • Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance Expands Golf Performance Program at Braintree Clinic

    Published on June 2, 2023

BRAINTREE AND EAST BRIDGEWATER:Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance, a South Shore practice specializing in unique programs that provide comprehensive treatment in orthopedic, spine and sports medicine specialties, is now offering a golf performance and golf specific rehabilitation program at their Braintree Clinic,

Peak has Titlist Performance Institute (TPI) certified physical therapists with specialization in golf specific rehab. TPI certified physical therapists are trained to help patients play golf pain-free and improve their game. They can assess and identify physical restrictions that might be limiting performance and creating unnecessary discomfort.

The program is designed for high school athletes and recreational golfers of all skill levels and can address an ongoing injury which is affecting your golf game, or for those who want to improve performance in general. A physical screen is performed on the first evaluation which looks at swing mechanics, biomechanics, physical fitness, movement quality, current health and past medical history. The therapist will analyze physical limitations in a player’s body through this comprehensive screen and will determine how these limitations can affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury. Once the screen is complete the physical therapist will create a unique plan of care specific to each golfer.

Peak Physical Therapy provides the player with access to turf to work on advanced golf specific exercises. Some of their treatment techniques include strength and conditioning, proprioceptive, balance, and agility exercises, plyometrics, power training, soft tissue massage, joint mobilizations, electrical stimulation, cold laser therapy, sports retraining and kinesio/sports taping.

Braintree Clinic Manager Matthew Murray PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS is TPI certified and runs the Braintree Golf Performance program. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) and his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology with a minor in Strength and Conditioning from the University of Delaware. Murray concentrates his practice in orthopedics, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, biomechanical analysis, chronic pain neuroscience, TMD and the treatment of sports injuries.

The East Bridgewater program is run by Joseph White, PT, DPT, A native of Hanson, MA, who is GRASTON Certified and earned certification from the TPI with a focus on golf related injuries. White earned a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and graduated with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2017. His experience includes clinical rotations in outpatient orthopedic sports clinics.  He has a great interest in treating musculoskeletal, orthopedic, osteopathic and sports related injuries.
