  • People left out of final NRC won’t be detained: MHA

    Two hundred new Foreigners Tribunals are being made functional from today in addition to 100 already existing in Assam to facilitate appeal to the people left out of the final NRC list.

    In a series of tweets, Home Ministry spokesperson said, adequate Judicial process is available for affected persons to appeal to Foreigners Tribunal within 120 days from 31st of last month.

    The spokesperson also clarified that persons left out of the NRC final list will not be detained under any circumstance till they exhaust all remedies available under law.

    Such persons to continue to enjoy all rights including the right to employment, education and property as earlier like any other citizen.

    The state government has also made necessary arrangements to provide legal aid to the needy people amongst those excluded from the list by providing all assistance through the District Legal Services Authorities.
