People of Harangajao suffer a lot due to dilapidated condition of National Highway 54

Haflong : Sufferings of Harangajao people due to dilapidated condition of Miyunkro to Harangajao seemed to be never ending, said conscious citizens of Harangajao.

Former Gaon Bura of Miyungkro village Madon Langthasa said one Laxmi Motor has been engaged by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for the work from Jatinga to Harangajao but the company often found not working properly. Some time they dump rubbish on the road and left for days causing immense inconvenience to the traffic.

For the bad condition of the road between Harangajao to Haflong, the people of Harangajao have been suffering for not less then fifteen years since the commencement of Four lane Sourastra to Silchar National High way. Haflong being the Head Quarters of Dima Hasao, the people of Harangajao had to visit Haflong every now and then by road for official works, medical etc.

Another driver said travelling to Silchar from Haflong has become a nightmare for them as the condition of road is indescribable till date. The vehicle often stuck on the road causing utter inconvenience to the people.

Moreover, the portion from Jatinga – Miyungkro, which has been repaired few months back also damaged at many locations raised many questions in regards to the quality of construction.

Mention may be made here that the NH has sanctioned 54 Crore for the work from Jatinga to Harangajao on EPC mode and one Ratna company was engaged but in practical one company named Laxmi motor has been executing the works. The works to be completed withing February 22 as per contract and maintenance to be carried out for another few years.
