    Published on July 31, 2013

London : Perforce Software today announced a successful first year for its 20/20 Program, which gives organisations no-cost licence options for Perforce version management and collaboration products. With the Perforce 20/20 Program, the company provides its full product family free for up to 20 users or workspaces and unlimited files. Thousands of start-ups and smaller teams have implemented this offering in order to start today with the version management solution used by globally distributed teams managing hundreds of terabytes of data.

“We first launched Perforce in my garage, so we remember what it’s like to be a start-up,” said Christopher Seiwald, CEO of Perforce. “Our 20/20 Program helps young companies build a strong base on which to grow their businesses. We are thrilled to see how many companies have taken advantage of our 20/20 offering since we started it little more than a year ago.”

    Customer Quotes

“We set up 22 Cans last year with just three of us, and today there are over 20 on the team,” said Tim Rance, CTO and co-founder of 22 Cans, a new games company based out of the UK and co-founded by the legendary Peter Molyneux OBE. “Perforce is still the best fit for us. The games market is moving faster than ever before. In the past you could take a couple of years working on a game whereas these days, you are talking about less than a year, often just months. We don’t have time to learn complicated systems that need to be administered; we just want something we can rely on that does the job without getting in the way. And that’s exactly what Perforce gives us.”

“Perforce is integral to our production—both for its revisionary features and command line functionality,” said Jeff Yohn, technical director at Rooster Teeth Productions. “And for us it’s absolutely free. We can even call on Perforce technical support anytime we like.”

“Perforce 20/20 enables us to focus on driving innovation and crafting compelling RPG game experiences,” said Ash Monif, CEO of Grimm Bros. “As an indie developer there is a strong temptation to cut corners and reduce costs, however we will not compromise creating a great game. It’s a tremendous help to have free use of all the full-featured Perforce products. Grimm Bros can now perform with the same toolset as the biggest and most successful software companies in the world.”

Also Free for Open Source and Academic Use

Additionally, Perforce is available at no cost for use in open source projects and to educational institutions.

“One of the constants at VFS is to ensure that, whenever possible, we emulate the real world within our educational model,” said Marty Hasselbach, managing director at Vancouver Film School. “Perforce is so prevalent throughout the industry, it goes without saying that we needed it integrated here. We’re happy that through this program we’ve been able to do just that.”
