Phoenix Startup YellowBird Named Finalist for Governor’s Innovation Award

Winners bridging economic challenges with tech solutions to be announced October 13th

YellowBird, a nationwide gig economy marketplace that matches vetted Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) professionals with businesses on-demand, is proud to announce it is a finalist for the 2021 Governor’s Celebration of Innovation Awards presented by the Arizona Technology Council (ATC) and Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA).

Yellowbird was selected in the Innovator of the Year Start-Up businesses category for achieving significant success using its innovative digital platform and human expertise to reinvent the EHS industry.

“This year we have an impressive lineup of students, teachers, leaders and companies responsible for incredible achievements in technology and who help make a name for Arizona as one of the world’s premier innovation centers,” said Steven G. Zylstra, the Arizona Technology Council’s president and CEO.  “These recipients are champions for our community and a major reason why we have experienced such rapid and consistent growth over the last 10 years. It’s a privilege to work with each of them.”

This year, nearly 20 small and large businesses are being honored for their progressive and sustainable efforts to build a better world.  Despite launching as a global pandemic emerged, start-up YellowBird remained focused on providing safer workplaces to build and do business, at a critical time in history.  The two-year-old company shares the finalist category for “Innovator of the Year Small Company” with Anuncia, Inc. of Scottsdale, SaiOx, Inc. of Tucson and EnPower, Inc. of Phoenix.

“Our team at YellowBird is humbled to be included on such an impressive list of innovators nominated for the Governor’s Celebration of Innovation Award,” said CEO and YellowBird Founder Michael Zalle. “We want to congratulate all the finalists who share our love for Arizona and the community that believes in us and believes in contributing towards the state’s future growth.”

YellowBird launched in 2019 with a sophisticated artificial intelligence platform and on-demand services that are a game changer in the EHS and tech industries for giving workers better control of when and where they work, while improving efficiencies to save time and money.  Companies in construction, manufacturing, and oil/gas industries turn to YellowBird’s deep roster of certified, vetted, and insured professionals who can work at a moment’s notice on any size project.

This year marks the 18th year for the Celebration of Innovation awards.  The prestigious, black-tie event is expected to draw an anticipated 850 leaders in Arizona’s business and technology fields. The GCOI committee will name the winners in each category during its celebration at the Phoenix Convention Center on the evening of Wednesday, October 13th.
