New Delhi; After achieving a record breaking target of planting 2.8 crore saplings on first of July across the state, the Maharashtra Government is now making efforts to ensure survival of maximum numbers of these trees.

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai on Wednesday, state Forest minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said the government will soon announce a toll-free number where people can lodge complaints of illegal tree cutting, anti-poaching and even negligence on the part of forest officials.

He added that the government also intends to give substantial monetary reward to those alerting about illegal tree cutting and anti-poaching.

Besides, this call-centre will also help to those who intend to plant trees and will be guided as to how trees must be cared for and protected.
