Mumbai, India: PlaySpan™, the global leader in monetization solutions for digital goods, social networks, online games and videos, today announced that it has received certification of PCI-DSS – Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard – for its Monetization-as-a-Service™ (MaaS) Platform from the PCI Security Standards Council. Furthermore, PlaySpan attained Level 1 Certification, the highest possible.

The PCI DSS, a set of comprehensive requirements for enhancing payment account data security, was developed by the founding payment brands of the PCI Security Standards Council, including American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide, and Visa Inc. Inc. International, to help facilitate the broad adoption of consistent data security measures on a global basis.

The PCI DSS is a multifaceted security standard that includes requirements for security management, policies, procedures, network architecture, software design, and other critical protective measures. This comprehensive standard is intended to help organizations proactively protect customer account data.

PlaySpan also achieved SAS 70 (Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70), one of the most stringent auditing standards for service companies. SAS 70 was developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) for service providers that wish to demonstrate a high level of control effectiveness to independent auditors. It has become one of the most widely recognized auditing standards for service companies.

“PlaySpan’s Level 1 PCI DSS certification and SAS 70 controls demonstrate our ongoing dedication and commitment to safeguarding the sensitive data of all of our users and merchants,” said Michael Dosik, Chief Security Officer and Director of Operations & Quality Assurance.

“Protecting client and consumer credit card and payment data is a critical facet of our business,” said Karl Mehta, Founder & CEO. “As the global leader in Monetization-as-a-Service platform for millions of consumers and thousands of merchants, PlaySpan must secure massive amounts of Internet-based transaction data. We continue to invest significantly in safety, security and trust capabilities to provide highest level of secured services to our users and merchants.”
