New Delhi: Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has said, the Prime minister is determined to make India truly a Swacch Bharat in terms of Tan, Man and Dhan. Addressing the two day Economic Editor’s Conference in New Delhi this morning, Mr Naidu said, the meaning of these three aspects like every citizen has to be pure not only body wise but also in thoughts. He said, every citizen should be in the forefront to fight corruption, terrorism and other social evils that affect the nation.

Mr Naidu said, his Ministry has decided to do away with the requirement for TV channels to renew their license annually. He said, if channels submit annual renewal fees 60 days before year end, the license will be deemed to be renewed.

The minister stressed that it is a major step by the Ministry to improve ease of doing business. Mr Naidu said, the initiative is expected to provide a major relief to permission holding companies of TV channels and teleports for ease of doing business.

Terming the government’s demonetisation move as a historic step, Mr Naidu said, with the parallel economy acquiring menacing proportions, government has taken this decisive and bold measure.
The Minister also appealed to the media and political parties not to distort demonetisation issue, even if needed to show problems caused.

He said, it is not fair for television channels to dwell on the inconvenience caused by the government’s move.

He said, nothing has come to a halt and everything except black money is moving. He also dismissed views that the demonetization decision is leading to huge inconveniences to people.
