Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh while greeting on this festive day said in his message that the Id-ul-Zuha is an occasion to remember the spirit of supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim and the festival teaches us to be humble, charitable and to work for the greater good of humankind.

The President, Vice President have also greeted the people on the occasion.

In her message, President Pratibha Devisingh Patil said that may the festival bring all the communities and religions of India together in a celebration of our composite culture and civilization.

The festival is being celebrated throughout the country on Wednesday.

Reports of celebrations are coming from different parts of the country. With situation now normal after many months of disruption in Kashmir Valley, Id-ul-Zuha is being celebrated with full fervour there.
