PM launches ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign from Panipat

Government’s ambitious ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign to save and empower the girl child was launched on Thursday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Panipat in Haryana, the state with the lowest sex ratio in the country.

Launching the programme, the Prime Minister appealed to people to change their mindset towards girl child.He asked people to treat girl and boy child alike.

Narendra Modi flagged off a vehicle which will go across the country generating awareness of saving a girl child. The Prime Minister also launched a postal ticket and a book which will spread awareness on saving a girl child.

Speaking at the occassion, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi said, the Prime Minister has made the “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao”campaign as the fourth major initiative towards building a prosperous and developed country.
