    GUWAHATI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated several infrastructure projects in Tripura including “Maitri Setu” built between India and Bangladesh. In the meantime, PM Modi said that the people of Tripura had made a new beginning by removing the negative powers that prevented the development of the state for decades, which is now showing an impact.

    The programme was carried out through video conferencing due to corona virus. Prime Minister Modi said that during his visit to Bangladesh, I and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina together laid the foundation stone for the bridge connecting Tripura directly to Bangladesh and it has been released today. Referring to the Mamata government in West Bengal, PM Narendra Modi said that where there is no double engine government, in your neighbourhood itself, the schemes empowering the poor, farmers, daughters have either not been implemented, or are running at a snail’s pace.

    The biggest impact of the double engine government is showing the poor to give Pucca houses. During the event, Prime Minister Modi said that connectivity between India and Bangladesh will prove to be very important for the north-eastern region. In addition, this important bridge for trade would play an important role. The Friendship Bridge on the Feni River will connect South Tripura to Ramgarh in Bangladesh. The construction of the 1.9 km long bridge was started in 2017. It was to be constructed in two years, but it was delayed due to corona.

    It will facilitate the visit of Chittagong Port in Bangladesh. The construction of this bridge has been overseen by National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited. PM Modi further said that today Tripura is experiencing a clear experience of the old government’s 30-year and double engine three-year government change. Where it was difficult to work without commission and corruption, the government benefit today is directly accessible to the people’s bank account. Prime Minister Modi said that the trade value of Tripura has increased and exports from the state have also increased by nearly five times. The central government has taken care of every requirement for the development of Tripura. PM Modi said  Where there is no double engine government, in your neighbourhood itself, the schemes which empower the poor, the farmers, the daughters have either not been implemented, or are running at a very slow pace.

Prime Minister Modi said tripura’s connectivity infrastructure has improved rapidly in the last three years. Whether it is the airport work, or the work of connecting Tripura to the Internet via the sea, or the rail link, it is working fast. PM Modi said that the bridge will intensify connectivity not only in India but also in Bangladesh.  Prime Minister Modi said that with the opening of the Feni Bridge, Agartala will become the nearest city in India from the International Sea Port. When every household reaches water, electricity, health facilities, our tribal areas have a special advantage. The same thing is being done by the Centre and the Government of Tripura. Prime Minister Modi said that I was told that bamboo cookies were presented as a packaged product. PM Modi said that in this year’s budget, major provisions were made for Eklavya schools in tribal areas.

    “Decades later, the solution to address the problems of The Bru refugees in Tripura was met with the efforts of our government, the special package of Rs. 600 crore given for the development of thousands of Bru companions will bring about a very positive change in their lives,” Modi said. The Friendship Bridge is a symbol of the growing bilateral relations and friendly relations between India and Bangladesh. The bridge ‘Maitree Setu’ has been constructed on the Feni River flowing between the state of Tripura and the Indian border in Bangladesh. The statement said that it was completed by National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited at a project cost of Rs 133 crore. The 1.9-km-long bridge connects sabrooms in India to Ramgarh in Bangladesh.
