  • PM Modi to reach Saudi Arabia; will deliver keynote address at FII Forum

    Mr Modi is visiting the Saudi Kingdom on the invitation of King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud. The visit is expected to further cement the strategic partnership between the two countries.

    At least 12 Agreements are likely to be signed during the visit covering areas, such as civil aviation, security-related matters, defence, infrastructure & non-renewable energy sector.

    An agreement to establish the Strategic Partnership Council is also expected to be signed during the visit. This will be an all-encompassing bilateral mechanism which will cover an entire spectrum of relationship between the two countries. The Council will be chaired by the Prime Minister himself from the Indian side and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia from the other side.

    AIR correspondent reports, King Salman will be hosting a royal banquet lunch in honour of Prime Minister Modi tomorrow. Later in the evening, the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman will host a dinner for the Prime Minister.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has said that defence, security, trade, culture, education and people-to-people contacts are the important areas of bilateral cooperation with Saudi Arabia. In a statement, prior to his departure to Saudi Arabia today, Mr Modi said, he will hold bilateral discussions with King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud. He will also meet and discuss with the Crown Prince, Mohammed Bin Salman several matters of bilateral cooperation as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest.

    Mr Modi said,  Saudi Arabia has been one of the largest and reliable suppliers of India’s energy needs. He said, during the visit, the Agreement for the establishment of the Strategic Partnership Council will further elevate the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership to a new level. He will also participate in the Future Investment Initiative Forum where he will speak about the growing trade and investment opportunities for the global investors in India.   The Crown Prince, during his visit to New Delhi in February this year committed to investing over 100 billion US dollars in sectors of priority in India.
