Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday expressed concern over the blast inVaranasi in which several people were injured and appealed to all to maintain calm and peace.
Dr Singh has asked the Home Ministry for a detailed report on the incident, a PMO spokesperson said.
The prime minister also appealed to the people to maintain calm and peace, he said.
A low-intensity blast rocked the holy town of Varanasi this evening leaving 20-25 including some foreign tourists injured.
The blast is an attempt to weaken our resolve by evil forces of terrorism in which terrorists will not succeed, says PM.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi also condemned the blast.
