    Published on January 20, 2019

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today came down heavily on opposition alliance saying they have started making excuses for their inevitable defeat in 2019 general elections by questioning EVMs.

Interacting with BJP booth workers from Hatkanangale, Kolhapur, Madha, Satara in Maharashtra and from South Goa Parliamentary constituencies, Mr Modi said the oppostion parties do not have faith in constitutional institutions and they are busy in maligning these.

He said yesterday’s TMC led opposition parties’ rally was only to protect and promote dynastic politics. He said BJP has alliance with 125 crore people and their aspirations.

Without naming West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Mr Modi said the party which was involved in large scale violence even in panchayat polls in the state is now talking about saving democracy in the country.

He termed the opposition alliance as a grouping of corruption, scams, negativity, instability and inequality.

Talking about the Government’s decision to give 10 per cent reservation belonging to economically weaker sections in upper caste, the Prime Minister said the Opposition parties would not have been so anxious if this decision was not effective.

He rejected the allegations that decision has been taken in view of polls.

Replying to a question on the changes in the last five years, Mr Modi said India has moved from a country making headlines for scams, power cuts, economic crisis, poor sanitation to schemes, electrification, high economic growth and an increase in sanitation from 38 per cent to 98 per cent.
Mr Modi said that India was counted among the fragile five global economies five years ago, and today, it is the world’s fastest growing economy. He said that the earlier scenario of high inflation and low growth has changed to low inflation and high growth.

In reply to a question from South Goa Parliamentary Constituency, Narendra Modi assured Goans that the central government is exploring all legal means to resume mining in the state which came to a halt in March 2018 following a Supreme Court verdict.

Mr Modi said that the government acknowledges the stress of mining dependents and the importance of mining to the Goan economy.

Around 5,000 party workers led by South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar had assembled at Multipurpose High School, Borda in Margao, South Goa this afternoon to listen to the Prime Minister.

Mr Modi lauded the efforts of ailing Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar in taking the state to new heights of development and wished him a speedy recovery.
