  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 8 P.M. today. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, he will speak on vital aspects relating to the menace of COVID-19. Our correspondent reports that this will be the Prime Minister’s second address in six days on the outbreak.

    The Prime Minister had stressed on social distancing as a necessary measure to contain the spread of the Novel Corona virus. He asked citizens to observe Janta Curfew on 22nd March and advised those over the age of sixty to remain inside their homes. Mr Modi gave nine calls to action urging everyone to avoid stepping out of homes unless absolutely essential. He said, people should avoid going to hospitals for routine check-ups. On the economic front, Prime Minister announced formation of COVID-19 Economic Response Task to comprehensively look at ways to boost economy. He also asked people to not cut wages of those working in homes, support staff, drivers and gardeners. He assured that the country has enough food and ration supplies and asked everyone to stay away from rumours. Prime Minister has asked people to take the lockdown seriously and follow instructions to save themselves and their families.
