PMKSY brings water in every field

 

New Delhi ; The aim of Pradhan Mantri Krushi Sinchai Yojana, PMKSY is to bring rationality and investment in irrigation and bring water in every field.

 

AIR correspondent reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the meeting of financial committee of ministers and approved new scheme called PMKSY.

 

The main aim of this scheme is to rationalise investment in irrigation to increase vigilance in the use of water so that whole agricultural land can be provided with water and stop the misuse of water by conserving water and using correct irrigation practises & to increase the productivity of the farm.

 

“Big Harvest for every drop of water ” and to bring investments in irrigation are also kept as other main aims.

 

For this scheme Rs. 50,000 crore are allotted for five years starting 2015-16 to 2019-20. For this financial year Rs. 5300 crore are being allotted.

 

This scheme will use the data of agriculture, water availability, & environmental conditions of that particular district to make the plan.

 

In our country out of 14.2 crore hectare agriculture land 65 per cent is not irrigated and therefore this scheme becomes very important and will bring whole agricultural land mass under some irrigation schemes and it will achieve the aim of “Big harvest for every drop of water”.

 

Centre has assured financial help for 132 schemes of the Maharashtra State in Vidarbha and Marathwada Region’s suicide prone and drought prone area.

 

For this, center has assured Rs. 7188 crore finanacial assistance to Maharastra.

 

After meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minster Devendra Phadanvis and Union Road Transport and Ship Building Minister Nitin Gadkari, Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati said, those schemes will be recognised as special schemes.

 

Out of 132 schemes , 78 schemes will be for Vidarbha and 54 will be for Marathwada.
