  • PNA not Receive U.S. Guarantee on Peace Talks

    Published on October 4, 2010

The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) has not received any assurance from the United States regarding Israel’s stance towards the peace process and settlement construction freeze, a Palestinian official said Sunday.

“The peace process is now stagnant despite the U.S.’s efforts to resume face-to-face negotiations,” Nabil Abu Rdineh, a spokesman for the PNA President Mahmoud Abbas told Voice of Palestine Radio.

The peace process is standing at a crossroads, Abu Rdineh said. He urged the Arabs and the international community to make decisive decisions in case of increasing tension in the region.

There is still a channel of communication with the U.S. side on the peace process despite Israel refused to freeze settlement construction, Abu Rdineh added.

The Palestinian leadership made a decision on Saturday to halt direct peace talks with Israel after the latter decided not to renew a 10-month moratorium of settlement freeze that ended last week
