Policeman died of heatstroke in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: Blistering heat claimed the life of a policeman in Kokrajhar today and another admitted to Kokrajhar Rupnath Brahma Civil hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Badra Singh Narzary, 44 of Mechpara (Bokrapara Part II) in Bongaigaon district. Narzary fell unconscious during the duty. He was immediately rushed to Rupnath Brahma local civil hospital where he died.  He was attached to Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner.

Another policeman identified as  Lal Mohan Barman, 42, of Silgara in Dhubri district is presently undergoing treatment due to heatstroke. Barman was on duty at Bhoatgaon where he complain of uneasiness due to extreme heat and was brought to the civil hospital and is being treated.

Many parts of Assam witnessed blistering heat as temperature hovered above normal in most of the regions since the last 2-3 days. Temperature in Kokrajhar today touched 38 degree Celsius. Afternoon downpour in isolated places in the district including Kokrajhar town however brought a slight relief to the people.
