  • Post-paid mobile phone services resume functioning in remaining areas of J&K from tomorrow

In Jammu and Kashmir, all post-paid mobile phones will start functioning normally from tomorrow noon in the remaining areas. This was stated by J&K administration spokesperson, Rohit Kansal in Srinagar yesterday.

The move comes barely days after the Centre issued an advisory opening the valley for tourists. Earlier, schools were re-opened followed by colleges and landline phones were made fully operational.

The weekly flea market in Sri Nagar, locally known as the “Sunday market”, was open as several dozen vendors put up stalls on the Lal Chowk road. The market today witnessed a huge rush of customers as people from different areas of the valley thronged it to buy clothes and other items in view of the approaching winter.

The strategic Jammu-Srinagar national highway also reopened for traffic today after remaining closed for the past two days due to a massive landslide in Ramban district. Light motor vehicles were allowed to ply on the highway from both Jammu and Srinagar after getting clearance from the agencies responsible for its maintenance.
