Guwahati : After arresting more than 35 APS, ACS and other allied service officers, the Assam police are preparing to apprehend and arrest 27 officers from the Agriculture Development Department. Sources stated that the investigation by the police team has now found that Rakesh Paul was involved in giving jobs to people in Agriculture Department as well. The investigation team has found that 27 officers belonging to the Agriculture Department have got their jobs by paying bribes to Paul and his allies. The source added that these officers were appointed in the year 2015. It was found that these officers were involved in obtaining jobs by unfair means after their answer scripts were examined by the forensic laboratories. The source informed that during the verification of their answer sheets, it was found that their handwriting and signatures were not matching. It might have been that someone else had written these answers. Currently, the police team is preparing to apprehend these 27 officials for questioning and if they are found to have any links with the cash-for-job scam, they will immediately be arrested. It may be mentioned that these officials sat in the examination in the year 2014 and were appointed in the year 2015.With the APSC cash-for-job scam bringing to light the high level corruption of Rakesh Paul and his confederates, another scam has surfaced which involves the same individual – Rakesh Paul. The Agriculture Department of the Government of Assam has now become a part of the corruption wagon too. Forensic test of answer sheets of 27 agriculture development officers appointed in 2015 have revealed difference in the hand writing of the candidates, after which, Dibrugarh Police plans to arrest the candidates including two former APSC members Basanta Kumar Doley and Samedur Rahman, who are allegedly involved in the scam.It may be mentioned here that a candidate had filed a case against Rakesh Paul in 2017, alleging corruption in the employment process. The candidate Bikash Das had alleged that he had passed in the written test and was asked to pay an amount of Rs 15 lakh by one Musarraf Hussain (alleged associate of Rakesh Paul).
