We expect the upcoming budget to introduce reforms to bring the economy back on track, given the uncertainty due to the pandemic. The government should continue to encourage digitalization, creation of rural e-infrastructure, and to provide additional incentives for research and development spending. Additionally, introducing more corporate tax benefits, simplifying tax regimes, and providing more sops under SEZ will make the business environment more conducive.
Given the current work from home (WFH) situation, there is also a need to introduce easy norms for WFH especially for SEZ units for the IT/ITES sector. Further, enhancing land and labour laws would improve the ease of doing business.
