    Hyderabad: Gleneagles Global Hospitals, a leading healthcare provider in the city, today organized an awareness walk to commemorate the World Kidney Day 2021. The World Kidney Day is being observed to create awareness on “Living Well with Kidney Disease”, and to increase education about effective symptoms management and patient empowerment, with the goal of encouraging life participation.

    Present on the occasion was Mr. Anjani Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City to inaugurate the walk and spoke about the importance of prevention of kidney ailments. The walk was help from the Hospital premises, which proceeded till Khairatabad X Roads and back. Also, present on the occasion were Dr. G. Swarnalatha, Incharge, Jeevandan; and Dr. Gandhe Sridhar, Chief Consultant Nephrologist, Gleneagles Global Hospitals.

    Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Mervin Leo, Cluster COO, Gleneagles Global Hospitals said, “Whilst effective measures to prevent kidney disease and its progression are important, patients with kidney diseases, including those who depend on dialysis and transplantation, especially during pandemics and other challenging periods. This year, we want to help patients with chronic kidney diseases and their family members or other care-partners be empowered to achieve the health outcomes and life goals that are meaningful.

    Being diagnosed with kidney disease can be a huge challenge, both for the patient and those people around them. Hence, the kidney disease management and treatment aim are to prolong longevity by preserving, restoring, or substituting kidney functions and delivering relief from kidney problems regardless of the efficacy for overall ailment management.
