  • President presents Padma awards

    The President, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the Vice President, Shri Mohd. Hamid Ansari, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh with the awardees at a Civil Investiture Ceremony, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, in New Delhi on April 08, 2015. President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday conferred Padma Vibhushan on Amitabh Bachchan, Prof. Malur Ramaswamy Srinivasan, senior Supreme Court advocate Kottayam K. Venugopal and few others.

    Renowned Assamese Filmmaker Jahnu Barua, professor Manjul Bhargava, computer scientist Vijay Bhatkar, Swami Satyamitran and Giri and few others were given the Padma Bhushan, during the civil investiture ceremony held at the majestic Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

    The President conferred Padma Shri on S Arunan, Dr. Bettina Sharada Baumer, Ashok Bhagwat, Prof Jacques Blamont, Prof Dr. Lakshmi Nandan Bora and few others.

    Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal were among the prominent dignitaries present during the event.

    The Padma awards were announced on the eve of Republic Day this year. It included nine Padma Vibhushan, 20 Padma Bhushan and 75 Padma Shri.
