Pride of Garhaon College: Volunteers and Working Officers of Garhgaon College selected for Dibrugarh University NSS Award

Sivasagar, Assam : Dr. Rimzim Bara, five volunteers and working officers of the National Service Scheme Group of Garhgaon College, a traditional high school in Sivasagar district, has brought glory to Gurgaon College by being selected in various institutes of the newly announced Dibrugarh University NSS Award of the National Service Scheme Cell of Dibrugarh University. Dr. Rimzim Bara, Executive Coordinator, National Service Scheme, Garhgaon College was elected as the Executive Officer of the Best National Service Scheme among the colleges under the University in 2019-20 as well as the National Service Scheme of the College.

Volunteer Punsi Kumar Singh best volunteers for 2018-19, Kalyan Jyoti Saikia for 2019-20, Kaushav Setia, Abhijit Gogoi and Kashmiri Kashyap has been selected as the best volunteer-volunteer for the year 2021-22. It may be recalled that Dr. Rimzim Barai, as the Executive Officer of the National Service Scheme, was able to win the NSS State Award for 2018-19 by representing Assam at the NNS National and North East Youth Festivals held in different states of India, including Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Noida in Uttar Pradesh. College volunteer Gyantrisha Phukan also brought glory to the college by successfully participating in the Pre-Republic Day camp in 2019 and winning the NSS State Award in 2019-20. Another Volunteer Punsi Kumar Singh represented Assam at the 70th Republic Day parade held in New Delhi on January 26, 2019-20. College President Dr. Sabyasachi Mahanta congratulated the National Service Scheme group of Garhgaon College and expressed satisfaction over its ability to receive these awards for various social and environmental activities carried out by the National Service Scheme.
