Rally to protest various forms of violence against women and girls in Kokrajhar.

Kokrajhar : A rally for women and children safety was carried in Kokrajhar to protest various forms of violence against women and girls in Kokrajhar.

Organised by Bodoland Students Union, members from various student organizations including All BTAD Minority Students Union, Bodoland Janajati  Suraksha Mancha, and citizens of Kokrajhar participated in the rally which started from Tengapara BSU office and marched through the street of Kokrajhar to Deputy Commissioner Office.

A memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner Kokrajhar demanding strong action against the anti social elements and safety and security of the netizens, especially women and girls.

The rally was organized especially to register protest against all forms of violence against women like sexual harassment, eve teasing, molestation, cyber bullying, slut slamming.

The conscious citizens in Kokrajhar have expressed serious concern over the unabated and rampant crimes against women and girls belonging to a particular ethnic indigenous tribal community since last August. For the past few days an organized group of criminal has been creating terrors in the mind of women and girls. . The criminals forcefully enter the living space and make the victim unconsciousness using sprays, and in some cases the miscreants outrage the modesty of women including rape and molestation, even filming the act of sexual violence and releasing it in social media in some instances.

Meanwhile, concern over the raising incident of attacks and crime against women and girls in Kokrajhar, a general meeting for remedial measures against anti social activity was held today at Basic Training Centre in Kokrajhar.
Organized by Kokrajhar Municipality Board, the meeting was attended by Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Partha Pratim Mazumdar, Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh, chairperson of Child Welfare Committee Kokrajhar Malati Rani Narzary.
 Conscious citizens, guardians, intellectual participated in the meeting and raised their strong voice against the repeated incidents of crime against women in and around Kokrajhar. They urged upon the police and district administration for safety and security of the people, especially women and girls.
Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee Kokrajhar Malati Rani Narzary demanded proper investigation into the reported cases and also called upon all to be alert.
The SPand DC assured of all possible measures against the anti social elements in the society.
Chairman of Kokrajhar Municipality Board Bishnu Narzary and members of several NGOs were also present in the meeting.
