Mangaldai : The line of news which put the modern civil society  into  deep embarrassment are about the new born babies rescued from a municipality dustbins,  from the jungles or from the roadside in a highly vulnerable abandoned manner .  Perhaps there may be no  more  news in such lines in the coming new years  especially in and around Mangaldai town . It could be possible with the efforts taken up by the workers of  “Aai” , a government recognized  Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA) under voluntary organization Crystal Vision to ensure that  any orphan , abandoned and surrendered new born babies are left unattended  in public places with threats to their lives . The organization has tried to mobilize  different stake holders associated with the issue including medical practitioners , nursing and hospital staff , local youth bodies among others resulting encouraging response .

As a part of this coordinated initiative  cradle baby points have been placed in all the government and private hospitals so that any biological parents not willing to shoulder the responsibility of the new born can leave their babies safe and secured  in these cradle and that too without being  noticed by others . “ We hope that from the coming new year no child  is left abandoned , surrendered or become orphan . But if it happens it should be free from any danger to the child . We are trying to create such an environment in greater Mangaldai area under the supervision of the District Child Welfare Committee and District Child Protection Unit with support from the District Administration and the common people as a whole.” Said Manabendra Baruah , Secretary of Crystal Vision . “ We are delighted to say that response from the  authorities of Mangaldai Civil Hospital , Mangaldai Poli Clinic and Debsons’ Nursing Home have been very inspiring . Local youngsters also responding and members of a local youth club Udayan  Sanggha of ward no 1 even helped us with a cradle from their Durga Puja savings .” Baruah added. The  ‘Aai’  which officially came into effect in the district since the month of June of this year  has registered three new born surrendered babies out of which two have been given to adoptive parents for foster care through a legal process of adoption under Central Adoption Resource Authority ( CARA ), New Delhi and SARA , Assam .
