Anisa Muthoni, a 27-year-old graduate in hotel management from Sunway University and an employee at the Mandapa Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Bali, has recently experienced a deeply distressing incident. A native of Kenya, Ms. Muthoni, known for her staunch advocacy against perceived injustices, fell victim to an assault by unidentified individuals.

This shocking event has sent ripples through the community, and our collective thoughts are with Ms. Muthoni during this challenging period. Notably, Ms. Muthoni’s father, a prominent figure in Kenya’s LGBTQ community, has been a vocal advocate for equality, serving as an inspiration to many with his unwavering commitment.

In addition to the hardships she has faced, Ms. Muthoni, who bravely confronts life as HIV/AIDS positive, has exhibited remarkable resilience. Despite these adversities, she remains resolute in her call for accountability and justice, particularly for those allegedly responsible for the assault. Presently residing in Bali, Ms. Muthoni is actively fostering a community to garner support and pursue justice.

People stands firmly in solidarity with Ms. Muthoni and all individuals championing justice and equality. We unequivocally condemn acts of violence and strongly urge authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the reported assault, ensuring a fair and just resolution.

The incident serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by those who advocate against injustice. We extend our support and sympathies to Ms. Muthoni and commend her resilience in the face of adversity, emphasizing that violence has no place in a just and equitable society.

Ms. Muthoni’s initiative to build a supportive community in Bali is commendable, and we encourage the community to unite in support of her cause. As an organization, we restate our condemnation of violence and underscore the importance of cultivating a world where everyone can live free from fear and discrimination.
