Former Calcutta High Court judge C S Karnan Karnan was today arrested in Coimbatore by the Kolkata Police team. For the last three days, Justice Karnan was staying in a private lodge near Kalpakkam University, Coimbatore. Kolkata police trapped his phone number at 6.00 p.m. today and arrested him. He was sent to Mumbai and then to Kolkata.

Supreme court sentenced Justice Karnan to six months jail for contempt of court on 9th of last month, when he was a serving judge of the Calcutta High Court. Karnan retired from service on June 12. He became the first high court judge to have retired as a fugitive.
