    “Each one of us has the reason to choose MBA and once we have decided to do MBA, we have to be committed and disciplined,” said Mr. B. Madhav Reddy. CEO & MD, Calcutta Stock Exchange, who was invited as the Chief Guest, during the orientation programme of new batch of MBA students at Heritage Institute of Technology Kolkata, on 26th July 2012. He said that in the corporate world decision is the most important thing and once decisions are taken, it has to be implemented through proper guidance. Moreover Mr. Reddy spoke about dreams and aspirations which are very much important for a MBA student. “Unless you dream about your goals, you cannot achieve them as dreams would constantly motivate you to achieve your goals,” said Mr. Reddy. Apart from dreams, aspirations are also important as it creates a strong desire within oneself to achieve extraordinary milestones in life.

    The programme was also addressed by Mr. Dev Narayan Sarkar, GM- Sales, Pepsico, who stressed on the essential qualities a MBA student should have to compete in the corporate world. “This two years will be a journey which will decide your future,” said Mr. Sarkar. He also showed in his presentation some motivational video clippings depicting famous quotes of great personalities like Dhirubhai Ambani, Sachin Tendulkar, Mother Teresa, Warren Buffet and many more to inspire the new students of MBA. The qualities stressed by Mr. Sarkar in his presentation for today’s MBA students are determination, leadership, gaining broad sphere of knowledge, strong in alma-mater, boldness, creativity and courage to encounter any difficult situation in life. He also gave the example of Steve Jobs who was speaking about “Connecting the dots”. He said that once you look backward then only you can connect the dot which is very much important in one’s life. Steve Jobs in his early life use to teach calligraphy and this skill was applied by him when he designed different fonts and styles for his software product installed in Apple.

    “Somewhere what you have learned in this two years, would be applicable in the future,” said Mr. Sarkar citing the example of Steve Jobs for his calligraphy skill and also with his own example where he did his MBA from FMS, Delhi and worked with top brands like Nokia, Idea cellular and Coca-Cola prior to his job at Pepsico.
