Indian IAS official Ritu Maheshwari is among the most well-known and well-liked in the country. Millions of Indians find inspiration in her, especially those who aspire to work in public service and improve the lives of many people in their communities.
July 14, 1978, saw the birth of Ritu Maheshwari in Punjab. She had two siblings, Monika Gupta and Rishabh Singla, and her parents were Shri C.D. and Smt. Saroj Singla. She enrolled at Punjab Engineering College to pursue an Electrical Engineering degree after graduating from D.A.V. School, M.C.M DAV College, Chandigarh. Following her Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree, Ritu Maheshwari enrolled in Amity University (Noida) to pursue an MBA in Executive Development.
Many young people, girls in particular, find inspiration in Ritu Maheshwari, who shows that perseverance and hard effort are always rewarded. She has been recognised and applauded for her work not just in India but also throughout the world over her decades of public service. There was also a documentary titled Katiyabaaz created on her life. 2012 saw the Berlin International Film Festival premiere of the documentary. The 15th Mumbai Film Festival also awarded it the Best Film in India category.
Married and the mother of two children, Ritu Maheshwari is proof that a woman may succeed professionally and lead a fulfilling personal life. Her husband Mayur Maheshwar is really proud of her accomplishments and line of work. They showed everyone the perfect model of a happy and successful marriage.
Over her extensive career as an IAS officer, Ritu Maheshwari has served in several districts. Her work mostly centres on Uttar Pradesh, where she oversees some of the biggest and most well-liked initiatives. Among the places she has been posted have been Ghazipur, Amroha, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, New Delhi, Noida and Agra. Making an impact wherever she goes, she has worked in a range of departments and sectors.
Many times her work has been acknowledged and honoured. Her Uttar Pradesh health programme Aarogyam won the UN Public Service Delivery Award for Public Administration in 2012, the State E-Government Award in 2011, and the National E-Government Award in 2011.
Additionally valued were her efforts to the Swachh Bharat Missions in Noida and Ghaziabad. In 2018 Ghaziabad was crowned Swachh Bharat’s Fastest Moving City, and Noida won the Municipal Administration’s Open Defecation Free (ODF) (Noida) Plus Plus Award. Further, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Indian government designated Greater Noida as a 5-Star Garbage Free City for SBM (Urban) and an Open Defecation Free City in 2021.
