Road to Responsibility one of the region’s largest and most successful nonprofit organizations supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, recently held a “Friends of RTR” get together, with the goal of introducing the organization to community members and helping them understand more about RTR’s mission.

In addition to meeting new members of the community, Road to Responsibility also used this small event to stay connected with some of the organization’s supporters beyond the virtual world.

 “We only see many of our donors once a year at our annual gala, which was last held in person in the fall of 2019,” said Christopher White, Ed.D., CEO of Road to Responsibility.  “Given that this year’s gala will also be held virtually, this meant there are some individuals whom we might not see until 2022 – a huge span of time.  We felt it was important to create a smaller, safe event that could bring our most dedicated supporters together as well as convey our mission to new community members that we may not have yet had the opportunity to meet.”

 In addition to White, attendees included State Senator Patrick O’Connor; Chairman of the Board George Ford of Hingham; Board Members Mary Ann Blackmur of Hingham, Tim Nash of Hingham, Peter Fallon of Scituate, and Rudy Dajie of Easton; Michele Brait of Marshfield; Christine Riffkin of Hingham; Michael Parsons and Andrea Benoit of Braintree; Diane DeNapoli of Hingham; Rita and Carlos DaSilva of Hingham; and Vin and Phyllis Savill, Matt MacDonald, and Judy Clergy, all of VHS Transportation in Easton.

 “The event was a wonderful success, as it was so great to see so many old friends and meet some new ones in person,” added White.  “We hope to have the opportunity to continue to host these small gatherings throughout the upcoming months.”
