  • MARSHFIELD and SOUTH SHORE: Road to Responsibility (RTR; http://roadtoresponsibility.org), one of the region’s largest and most successful nonprofit organizations supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will commemorate March as Intellectual/Developmental (I/DD) Awareness Month with a social media campaign highlighting #TheJourney of Road to Responsibility and the individuals they serve.

I/DD Awareness month was established in 1987 by then President Ronald Reagan to increase public awareness of the needs and potential of Americans with intellectual and developmental disabilities and to urge all citizens to provide the encouragement and opportunities those with I/DD need to lead productive lives and achieve their full potential.

“Our mission is grounded on these tenets,” said Christopher White, Ed.D., CEO of Road to Responsibility.  “While we observe and celebrate March as I/DD Awareness Month, we work to help enrich and improve the lives of our clients each and every day throughout the year.”

RTR will spotlight March as I/DD Awareness Month via a social media campaign to raise awareness about the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life and to promote mindfulness of the barriers those with I/DD often face.
