  • Rotary Club of Delhi South East – a history of service to the nation and fellow human beings

    Published on December 20, 2013

He profits most who serves best. This is the primary slogan of the Rotary platform. Rotary brings men and women too differing in social status, religious beliefs and nationality together in order that they may more intelligible to each other and therefore more sympathetic and friendly. Rotary Clubs in India has performed this job to perfection for several decades now.

To mark this movement of service, Delhi South East celebrates its 35th Charter Day on 22 December. The club President for the year 2013-2014, Subra Parameswaran and the First Lady Padmini Parameswaran will be felicitating and honouring all the Past Presidents who have served Rotary with commitment and dedication.

It was a very proud and historic moment when members of this Club led by Past President Late Rtn. Kailash Sachdeva received the Club Charter from the then Rotary International President Rtn. Clem Renouf.

It was probably a very rare, if not the only, instance when a club charter was personally handed over by the highest-ranking officer of the Rotary International, RI President, in person.  Thus, a club was born on December 22, 1978, named “Rotary Club of Delhi South East”, which was destined to become one of the premier clubs of the then District – 301 (Now 3010) winning laurels from the District time and again.

The club started with a small group of 12 Charter Members and has grown to a formidable group of 65 members and this has been possible because of the dedicated efforts of all the Past Presidents.  Time and again, under the stewardship of different Presidents, South East has shown its mettle, zeal, commitment and determination in achieving Rotary ideals. It has grown from strength to strength and had an impact on almost all walks of Rotary activity. It therefore comes as no surprise that successive District Governors repeatedly commended and awarded the club efforts in different avenues of services.

South East also had the distinction of providing our District with a Governor in the RY 2001-02, when our own PDG Suresh Jain was unanimously elected to lead our District. History repeats itself after a gap of over 10 years when another Governor, DGE Sanjay Khanna who is an active and charismatic member of South East is elected to lead Our District in RY 2014-15. We are proud of both our Governors…one past and one future. They have brought laurels to South East and enriched our history by adding many feathers in our Rotary hat.South Easters are proud of the fact that, club has successfully executed over a couple of Millions of Dollars worth social projects that benefit the community at large and society in particular. Club has been ‘the Best Club’ in the district a number of times, thanks to dedication and camaraderie of the members

The South Easters are proud of their impeccable history and strong traditions and they will continue to work relentlessly in the various avenues of service.
