Rupee down 6 paisa against dollar in opening trade

The Indian rupee depreciated by 6 paisa to Rs 44.42 a dollar in the opening trade tuesday, weighed down by dollar’s gain against other Asian currencies.

However, continued capital inflows by foreign funds into equities, capped Rupee’s losses.

The domestic unit had ended 26 paise lower at Rs 44.36/37 a dollar in the previous session at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market.

Forex dealers said weaker Asian currencies against the US dollar weighed on the rupee sentiment in the opening trade.
