The rupee today settled seven paise higher at 75 rupees and 58 paise (provisional) against the US dollar supported by weak American currency and easing crude prices even as the equity market was trading in the negative territory.

Forex traders said weak domestic equities, foreign fund outflows and rising COVID-19 cases weighed on investor sentiments.

However, the weak American dollar supported the local unit and restricted the decline.
