The Indian rupee eased by 10 paise to Rs 46.49 a dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on Wednesday following dollar’s gains against other major currencies.
Forex dealers said besides the dollar’s gains against other major currencies, increased demand from importers for US currency also put pressure on the the rupee.
The rupee had ended lower by 27 paise at one-week low of 46.39/40 a dollar in the previous session.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index, Sensex, rose by 43.89 points or 0.24 per cent, to 18,263.88 points in opening trade.
