  • Rural Technology start-up Hesa forays into consumer Segment with the launch of Suhas

    One of the largest rural marketplace Hesa has launched a household consumer brand called “Suhas” on 6th April 2022. The new consumer segment will offer a wide range of kitchen essentials ranging from lentils, spices, grains and more at affordable prices for consumers to discover in local Kirana stores and e-commerce platform of Hesa. Built with an in-depth understanding of consumer needs, Suhas focuses on recreating authentic flavour and formulating delightful taste of Indian food.  Leveraging Hesa’s network of 30,00,000 consumers and 30,000 Hesaathi’s, Suhas aims to become the household consumer brand of rural India with assured taste, trust and premium quality.

    The brand has received a phenomenal response from customers prior to its launch with over 2 crores of pre-orders from various markets. Following a phase-wise, roll-out plan, Suhas will be available across the southern market in the next 12-18 months, followed by the west, east and north markets. In line with the Indian Government’s mission of #localforvocal launched in 2020, Hesa envisions to empower farmers by directly procuring from them. Hesa is enabling transactions, promotions and access in rural India becoming the largest rural marketplace. Foraying into a new category, Hesa is on a mission to strengthen its consumer portfolio. Suhas aims to educate consumers about the Indian food authenticity with its expertise in sourcing and procurement.

    Commenting on the announcement Vamsi Udayagiri, Founder and CEO Hesa said “Working in rural India for more than a decade, we discovered the consumer need for quality and affordable spices. With Suhas going forward we plan to directly procure produce from Farmers Interest Groups (FIGs) , Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and other agri groups in the future. The idea is to elevate the earning potential of the farmers without any additional cost. Hesa aims to bolster its commitment of empowering rural India by addressing the challenges of branding and market access through Suhas”.
