Gurgaon:  Adding to the spirit of being a responsible organization towards environment and its sustainability, SABMiller India announced host of internal green activities across its offices to celebrate the World Environment Day 2011. To reinstate the importance of sustainable development various activities such as Green Balance and Waste..No More along with other fun activities were promoted within the internal team.

World Environment Day (WED) which is an annual event to promote positive environmental action has become the biggest and most widely celebrated global day. With India being the host country for the World Environment Day 2011 celebrations, SABMiller India joins the cause and promotes the environment conservation which will secure the future for our next generation.

On the occasion of the World Environment Day on 5th June, SABMiller India completely dedicated a week full of green activities not just to create awareness but made each employee take a pledge that will later add value in making a difference in the environment.

Activities such as the Green Balance encourage employees to come up with innovative ideas on reducing office waste such as paper which adds to the mass waste generated in India. Waste reduction helps in conserving resources, reducing water and energy use, and prevents pollution.

The other activity ‘Waste..No More’ encourages employees to make something useable like a decorative thing from the waste things at home. To keep the momentum going other activities such as quizzes on environment, screening of movies on environment and sharing of bamboo saplings along with a coaster made up of recycled objects was being organized. Also to mark the celebrations of the World Environment Day, employees planted 150 trees followed by an oath to support the cause.

SABMiller India as one of its core priorities, also regularly focuses on water management initiatives with 5R strategy which emphasizes on internal measures to reduce, recycle and reuse water at all the SABMiller India breweries.
