Steel Authority of India SAIL, proposes to sell its five percent stake through a public offer in the current fiscal. SAIL Chairman C S Verma told reporters this in New Delhi last evening. He added that Attorney General of India G E Vahanvati has given the legal opinion on the issue. Our correspondent reports that the government intends to raise an estimated 4,000 crore rupees through this sale. The government now holds a little over 85 per cent stake in SAIL.
