The Indian men’s and women’s doubles teams crashed out of the world championships after losing their respective third-round matches. In Women’s doubles event, Jwala Gutta and her partner Ashwini Ponnappa were defeated by sixth seeds Jung Eun Ha and Ming Jung Kim 21-14 21-15.
In men’s doubles, 15th seeds Rupesh Kumar and Sanave Thomas also lost to eighth seeds Lars Paaske and Jonas Rasmussen of Denmark 21-16 21-16.
In women’s singles quarter final event Saina Nehwal will play sixth seed Shixian Wang of China. Nehwal defeated Russia’s Ella Diehl in straight games, 21-14, 21-18 on Thursday night in the third round of the event.
In the mixed doubles quarter-finals, ninth seeds V Diju and Jwala Gutta will take on 12 seeds Sung Hyun Ko and Jung Eun Ha of South Korea.
