  • Science on Wheels – M3M Foundation’s effort to give practical experience for children of Gurgaon government schools

    • In this programme, children of construction workers highlighted the importance of science through various models.

    Gurugram: M3M Foundation, in association with Agastya International Foundation, organised a session on applied science at iMpower Resource Center, Sector-67, Gurugram, wherein children of construction workers highlighted the importance of science through various models. Gurugram District Education Officer Saroj Dahiya graced the event as the chief guest, while Assistant Education Officer Jagdish Ahlawat, Dr. Payal Kanodia, Trustee of M3M Foundation, Dr. Aishwarya Mahajan, President of M3M Foundation, Vipin Kumar Yadav, Area Head of Agastya Foundation, Dr. Binujeet, Aide et Action and others present cheered up the talented children.

    The kids were confident and spoke in length about each model; to name a few: Bull and Rope, Lateral Shift, Newton Colour Disk, Persistence of Vision, Dark Box, Hole in a Hand, Shape of Earth, Bernoulli Principal, Nail Balancing, Human Torso, Deep Well, Periscope, Pressure at Different Height, Magic Box, Neutralisation, Submarine, Surface Tension, Phases of Moon, and Season Model. District Education Officer Saroj Dahiya assured support to the children for better growth and development in the field of science.

    On this occasion, under the Saakshar Programme, a van with mobile science lab facilities called ‘Science on Wheels’ was flagged off by Saroj Dahiya, District Education Officer, Gurugram and Dr. Payal Kanodia, Trustee of M3M Foundation. Through this project, practical science sessions will be conducted through mobile science labs for children (6th to 9th standard) and government teachers in ten government schools of Gurgaon. The mobile science lab is equipped with lab kits and models, and will travel with a driver and two instructors to government-run schools to nurture and develop children’s innate curiosity through models made from easily available reusable material.

    Ms Saroj Dahiya, Deputy DEO, Gurugram said, “The children have put in great efforts. They meticulously showcased the experiments of science that are very much prevalent in everyday life. Initiatives such as this will increase the interest of children in science. Early intervention and guidance can pave the way for growth and development.”

    Speaking on the launch of ‘Science on Wheels’, Dr. Payal Kanodia, Trustee, M3M Foundation said, “I am feeling extremely proud and happy with the way the children presented various models and highlighted the importance of science. Children are the future of our country and only when they progress, our country will progress. We are glad our partnership with Agastya International Foundation and Aide et Action has been fruitful. We collectively can help boost interest of science in children.”

    She further added that they will also hold practical science sessions in the government-run schools of Gurugram through the mobile science lab.

    The ten schools include: GSSS Badshahpur, GGSSS Ghamroj, GSSS Alipure, GSSS Kherki Doula, GMS Baliawas, GMS Ghata, GSSS Gawal Pahari, GSSS Jamalpur, GMS Shivaji Nagar, and GSSS Sukhrali.
